I hope you are all having a wonderful first week of middle school! I have thought of each of you this week, and each time I do, I smile. It felt SO WEIRD for school to start and not have my own class of kiddos. But there was no way I could have topped you all, so I has to leave on a high note! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer!! In the spirit of the blog I am going to leave you with a writing prompt!

I know I'm a little late, but:
I opened the doors to the middle school in great anticipation and with my heart nearly beating out of my chest. As soon as I did, all the students in the halls disappeared and the lights went out. I was surrounded by darkness as I...
walked slowly into the black area. I could faintly see the lockers on the walls, and I saw some class doors. Suddenly, the lights turned on. Turning around, I saw someone behind me. A short girl with brown hair stood there, and stared at me with deep blue eyes. She started to walk towards me. I took a step back.
"What just happened," she said? "Why are you here? Where'd everyone go?"
"I dunno," I said slowly. "How did you get here?"
"I walked out of class stupid," she muttered. "I'm on time unlike some people, hint hint!"
"Not helping the situation," I said in the toughest voice I could muster up. "So what do we do now?"
"How am I supposed to know genius?" she asked. "I'm in the same blindside you are. Let's just get out of the building. How about that for a plan?"
"Good as any," I told her. She started to walk off to the doors at the end of the hall. The EXIT sign was lit in the neon red. It looked evil. Unsettling.
"What's your name?" I asked her, puzzled.
"I'm Clara," she answered. "I was in class, talking with my friend Cecilia and Mackenzie. That's when this stuff happened. Talk about unlucky. I was going to have waffles for dinner, but noooooooo. I have to be stuck at school with the lights off."
"Let's just get to the door," I stutter.
"Ummmmm, there's just one problem," she said, starting a panicky voice. "They're locked. We're locked in the school!!!"

(6th Grader)(I still like putting 6th Grader. It makes me sound tough. haha lol)
(PS- All the characters are based on real people at middle school. Algebra is going good. Bye!)
Middle school is going great. The schedule for map testing is confusing. I really miss having you as a teacher. Every time I visit Briarcliff it reminds me of 5th grade.

Ermahgerd having such a great year so far! Its almost over, and no one can believe we're almost SEVENTH GRADERS!!! I've made so many new friends, and have had so much fun. Map testing is confusing like Ian said. Also, I PASSED ALGEBRA ONE!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! And I qualified for the Truman celebration thing. Awesome year!!!

[Sixth Grader, Almost Seventh]
I'm so happy to hear from you Ian and Nick! I cannot believe you guys are almost 7th graders. I have seen a few former Briarcliff kiddos who have now moved and attend Park Hill Schools. It makes me miss Briarcliff and all of you too! But alas, we must move forward in life and that means leaving things behind at times, but knowing that better things are yet to come. I'm glad we have outlets to keep in touch! I hope you guys have a fantastic last week of school and even better summer!! All the best to you! Miss Scanlon...now Mrs. Fuemmeler :)
