"Work for a cause, not for applause. Live life to express, not to impress. Don't strive to make your presence know, just make your absence felt." Anonymous
As we enter our unit on poetry we will be spending a lot of time understanding the message of words that are put together in an interesting way. We have come to know this as figurative language. In order to do this effectively we will be required to use our inferring skills to draw conclusions with the poetry we read.
The author of the above quote is not known. Therefore, your task this week in your response is to 1) use your inferring skills to interpret in a sentence or two what this quote means to you, and 2) what conclusions can you draw about the person who said these wise words? Remember, when we draw conclusions we must support it with evidence, so please state reasons for the conclusion you drew. Again, your response should be a complete 6-7 sentence paragraph with correct capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.
Happy blogging! (Oh, and by the way, your "Sugar Tax" blog blew me away! You all rock my socks off! Keep up the great work!) :)

This quote means to me that every person has a job to do in life, whether it is to work or just to bring joy to people, everyone plays their part. I think this because when it says, "Work for a cause, not for applause." that means work for something you care about. Do not work for something just to show people that you're working,or just to work so you can get things in return. When the quote says "Live life to express, not to impress." I think that means you should express yourself not impress others.
I think the person who wrote this cares about what we do with our lives and how we live them. I think this because he/she is telling us to work for something, to express yourself, and to make our absence felt. I also think this person has gone through this personal experience and wants to make a change in it because he/she does not want to go through that experience again.

I think this quote means that you shouldn't try to impress people. You should give your best because you want to not to impress others. I also thinks this means that you should be yourself not what people want you to be.I think the person who wrote this quote went through something that made them see that they could express there self by being there self. This person probably always thought they weren't good at something so they tried to better then someone else but there is always someone better.

This quote means to me that every person has a job or somthing they inspired to do. When it say "Work for a couse, not for applause. It is trying to say that if you wanted to work for a doctor for an example make sure that you are trying to do your best not to show off. "Dont strive to make presence know, just make your absence felt." That means to do not show up to make somebody dont show up. I think the person who wrote this is Miss Scanlon because she is hardworking and honest. odai al-saoudi
I think that this quote means that you shouldn't live for the fame and glory, but you should live for knowing that you have done good things, and that you have done something good in the world. For example my grandpa (we call him Papa)did a lot of really good things, that only us in the family, and some others know about. One public thing he did was help design a highschool. But some other things that he has done is that he put coats on kids' chairs, who were too poor to buy them. So in the winter they were still warm. Yet not one of the children who received coats knew who gave it to them.
I think the person who wrote this quote, must be a wise person like Yoda, but as people know (and as much as I don't want to believe it), Yoda isn't real. And people can't be little green men who know the Empire like the back of their hand, so he/she must be wise in a different way, like knowing what is a good way to help, or doing what is right even if nobody is watching. Which happens to be what I think this quote is about. Doing what is right even if nobody is watching. Which leads me back to the author, whom I think must be an honest person, for to what is right even if nobody is watching means to be honest with yourself. So do what this poem says and be a better person!

It means to do whats right. I think that the person would have to be pacent. becuse this is facinating quote and hard to come up with. Mabey its a smart person. Mabey this person had a egea cation. this is a asome quote. derrick
This quote means that not every thing that you do isn't a award that you do. Everyone life has to their fullest. Everyone has there feelings touch every once in evevy while. It means you make the best of you. That's what it means to me. I can conclude that this person is care free because it said that the words said that "Live life to express, not to impress." Jennie
I think the quote means don't go out of your way to get a reward but to help the person in need. Also just be yourself. You don't need to change yourself to be "cool". It is OK if you are not always "cool". Do what is right even if it is not always noticed. When you are gone people will miss that nice person that is absent. Be the best person possible, it is always right.

This quote means to me that you don't have to make people impressed with you to have a good life and job.I think this because it says "Work for a cause, not for applause."It also means to be yourself and never change yourself.(1)I can conclude that this man is a man who likes to be himself and dosen't want to change.(2)I can also conclude that he dosen't like people who change from kind to mean."This has been Briarcliff News with Ian Cronk back to you comments."

I think that the qoute means that you should do something that you know what to do so that you fell good for what you did and for what you do.But still you can try new thigs.I say that life is not all about happyness and perfectness because not all people are the same and are not equal. And by when I say equal I mean we all have diffenent talents and other things.Example my unle is on facebook and hes trying to impress people what he doesnt know like one time he went to see motercykles and he toke pictures and he put them in facebook and he wrote I toatlly knw how to ride them but I tell him to not impress what he dosent know.lesly#12
I think this quotemeans that you should not TRY to make the good things you do noticed, you should do them but not expect anything in return. This is kind of like the golden rule, do unto others as you would like others to do unto you. I think a very wise person said this, kind of like Yoda in Star Wars or Dumbledoor in Harry Potter. but whoever wrote this has the right idea. I'm a Christen and usually don't expect anything in return. Sure I make deals sometimes but you get the idea. This is what I think this quote means, one more thing is that this is the best quote I've ever heard.

Thank you.
I think this quote means that even if nobody can see you, then you should still try you hardest. There is another quote,"How do you live your life when nobody is watching?".I think that you shouldn't ask for anything but if someone decides to reward you then you should accept it.For example,If you decide to rake leaves or shovel snow for money that is ok if your trying to save up for something but be sure to say,"Pay according to a job well done.
Joseph
I think that the quote is about how you don’t have to be famous to do great things in our world. For example, you might just pick up trash. Future generations will not know that you worked to keep their world clean. It also means to stay strong and carry on whenever someone else is trying to put you down, and make you feel like you’re a nobody. I think the person who wrote this quote is an ordinary person because the quote just sounds like someone’s opinion. The person who wrote it might have been just a writer for that one moment. That’s why they wanted to remain anonymous, so that people would have to infer, but never know who the author was.

I think the person who wrote this quote ment to tell people to express your self. Also to say that it does not matter who your friends with or who likes you.The second portion means to work for somthing important. N
ot so people notice you.I think if we knew the the prerson who once said this that person would know be famous.natayolie
This quote mean to me is that you should be your self. You have to be your self because you want to be your self not make people happy. The person who said this quote is a hard worker. I think that because it talks about hard work. I think that she or he is cool because they don't like applause for the work they have done

What I think this means is work for yourself.Dont work for other peoples approval.Express your personalaty and dont let what other people have to say get to you.You dont have to be "good enough" for anyone but yourself.I think the person who wrote this is wise.I also think the person who wrote this is and older aged person because this seems like a life lesson because you don't reall think about that at a young age.Remember to express your personalaty and don't let anyone put you down.
Matthew 2 27 2012 what i think this means is work because for me everybody has to have a job and everyone their own part in there life and what i learned so far ever since i been in this class you have to work for a cause not for applause and dont impress be success and i will work hard and do the best i can in this class and dont leave your friends behind be kind and this is my blog the end.
I think that "Work for a cause, not for applause"means that everyone has a purpose in life and people aren't a waste of space. You don't have to be a millionare to be important. Some people have million dollar jobs like the guy who started Apple. Some people have small jobs and not a lot of money and that's okay. You don't have to have a lot of money to be important.I think that "Live life to express, not to impress"means that you don't have to fit in.If you don't have anormal hobbie like your friends like `Pokemon or something like that. Most people don't know this but I like to sew and latch hooking and that's okay.People were meant to be different and there's nothing wrong with that.

It might mean that being cool does not mean anything. Soon one's your in middle school and all the people that you knew that thought you were the coolest guy in town are gone. And everybody will think that your lame what would you do then. Now I don't know how long this might be but this sentence that I'm wrighting is going to stop now. Ok close your eyes and amagen that your in highschool middle school just ended and the summer is over and your in a new state or place oh I don't know. Umm somwere in Main but your in a new school and everything. Now amagen that everyone that you use to go to school with thought you were so cool and now there all gone all of them so now amagen that everyone in your new school thinks your wierd because you tryto act cool like how you did in your old school. So pritty much the meaning of it is that your are not the best person in the world just be your self not some randem dude but I think this guy is well likes to be himself.

i have no idea what this quote means at all so i dont know man what do i do. im so scared ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Charmi is my bae though
Work for a cause means,a principle or a commitment which a person is prepared to advocate.
It doesn't matter whether you're praised or criticized you have to stand your ground because you're doing it not to seek anyone's approval. Once you're committed to that cause, people may not notice but when you're gone or absent, that gap will be felt. In a nutshell you'll be leaving footprints or a legacy to those remaining.
To me it means being yourself. Be a stand-up awesome caring kind human....without having to broadcast it on social media
You the only one on the comments who spoke some sense
Apparently it simply means live to make positive impact in others without expectations
